Behind The Scenes

Joseph M. Brito Jr. is the creator of Unity Park in Bristol, Rhode Island. In 2019, he led the transformation of an old industrial site, once home to the National Rubber Company mill from 1865, into a thriving community space. Unity Park now supports "blue economy" businesses focused on sustainable marine industries, along with restaurants, a coffee shop, a brewery, and a distillery. Unity Park's dedication to preserving and reimagining this historic site earned them the 2023 Rhody Award for Historic Preservation from Preserve Rhode Island.
